Servus mtiggy,
Absurd’ valuations
Genomics stocks -- companies involved in decoding genes -- flew the highest in early 2000,
to valuations now generally seen in the industry as wildly excessive.
“The absurd valuations were confined to genomics, and they are a lot more than 20 percent
below the peak,” says Milford.
Celera Genomics [CRA] peaked at $276 and now trades in
the 90s; Gene Logic [GLGC] hit 152 and now trades in the
low 20s; Human Genome Sciences [HGSI] peaked at $232
and now trades in the 150s.
The genomics stocks haven’t been the stars of the
summer, says Milford. “Only in the last few days has the
money been flowing back into genomics.”
Strategically, Milford believes the outlook is promising for biotech companies with products
under development.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
http://www.ragingbull.altavista.com/mboard/boards.cgi?board=…
What happens between 9:30 & 10 doesn`t count
Genelogic typically opens the day up. The pattern is a nice gain between 9:30 - 10:00 and then a pullback. The next
pattern that is typically downward is between 11:30 and 12:00, and then another downward pattern between 2:30 & 3:00.
Then we usually close with a rally from 3:30 - 4:00. These patterns are merely observations on my part. I should capture the
data and capture the stats to see how accurate my observation is.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

vom chart her bin ich jedenfalls sehr optimistisch!

Selbst in Deutschland mal steigende Umsätze. Hatte die letzten Tage
ein wenig Bedenken. Steigende Kurse, und kaum Handel.
Immer diese kurstechnische Amiabhängikeit. Aber heute haben sich woll
doch ein paar Leutchens zum Kauf entschieden. Naja, 38 Tage Linie
durchbrochen, steigender Handel. Leider wird der Kurs auch in Zukunft
im Amiland gemacht. Ich wünsche allen viel Glück beim Weinachtsziel 100€.

In Amiboards wird spekuliert, daß
- entweder große Nachrichten oder
- ein Artikel in einer wichtigen Zeitschrift
rauskommen sollen
Zumindest wird Gentherapie in USA wieder viel positiver gesehen. Das hilft auch GLGC.

Stärkere Korrektur heute im Biotechbereich trifft unsere Gene Logic leider überproportional. Morgen

Biotech shares lost their luster as investors unloaded shares of
genomics-related companies. Celera Genomics (CRA: news, msgs)
slipped $7.88 to $104.50 while Human Genome Sciences (HGSI: news,
msgs) declined $10.56 to $166.06. The Nasdaq Biotechnology Index
($IXBT: news, msgs) fell 4.3 percent while the Amex Biotech Index
($BTK: news, msgs) dropped 5.7 percent. The latter jumped 31 percent
during the month of August, bringing in some September profit-taking.

Genomics, biotech stocks slip
By Ted Griffith, CBS.MarketWatch.com
Last Update: 4:25 PM ET Sep 5, 2000
NewsWatch
Latest headlines
NEW YORK (CBS.MW) -- Led by shares of genomics companies, the
biotechnology group declined Tuesday.
The Amex
Biotechnology Index
($BTK: news, msgs)
dropped 5.7
percent, and the
Nasdaq
Biotechnology Index
($IXBT: news,
msgs) was down 4.3
percent.
Stocks in the genomics subsector showed particular weakness. Shares of
Celera Genomics (CRA: news, msgs) slipped $7.88, or 7 percent, to
$104.25. Shares of Incyte Genomics (INCY: news, msgs) shed $1.69, or
4.2 percent, to $38.56. Shares of Affymetrix (AFFX: news, msgs)
declined $4.06, or 5.1 percent, to $74.94.
Winton Gibbons, a biotechnology analyst with
William Blair & Co., said the stocks could be
falling because investors are concerned that the
market will soon be saturated with genomics
shares. Gibbons said more than half a dozen
genomics companies plan to make initial public
offerings in the next few months. The analyst also
said restrictions that prohibit insiders at many
genomics companies from selling their shares would
expire during the fall.
"There is a lot of demand for genomics stocks, but
there is also going to be a lot of supply," Gibbons
said.
Genomics is a loosely defined term that refers to
the gathering and deciphering of genetic data.
Genomics companies, particularly Celera, have
been in the spotlight this year because of hopes that
their genetic research would open the way for
breakthroughs in the treatment of numerous
diseases.
As for the decline in the biotechnology sector
overall Tuesday, Gibbons said that some investors
appear to be selling to lock in recent gains.
Shares of Millennium Pharmaceuticals (MLNM:
news, msgs) fell $6.75 to $147.44. Millennium`s stock surged last week
after the Cambridge, Mass.-based company said it had discovered a
potential new gene target for treating cardiovascular disease.

@shave23

Thursday September 7, 8:04 AM EDT
RESTON, Va., Sep 7, 2000 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- With the exception of Pfizer (9), most of
the companies occupying the top 10 spots on this week`s list are telecom and handheld
device-related enterprises. The weekly list of the most researched companies at

biggest jump came from Genset (39), moving up 11 spots this week. Calpine (46), which J.P.
Morgan began coverage on this week, fell from its number 34 position. Other companies making
more than minor shifts were DSL.net (31), Nuance Communications (41) and Yahoo! (47).
The week`s top 10 most researched companies at Powerize.com: Advanced Micro Devices (1),
Pacific Century Cyberworks (2), Nokia (3), Palm Inc. (4), Lucent Technologies (5), Cisco Systems

Tagchen Meier M!
Jetzt könnte man daraus verschiedene Schlüsse ziehen.
Was hälst Du davon?

Hallo zusammen,
wenn das kein erfreulicher Artikel ist!
REMEMBER!!WHY THIS STOCK!$142
IT`S PURE GENE LOGIC
By Dr. Cynthia Miller, MD, Ph.D.
We are living in an exciting era. Never before has there been such great
anticipation on how greatly technological advancements will improve our
lives. And as the recent months indicate, this will be no different in
biotechnology. Many biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies have
embarked on quests to conquer diseases that many scientists and physicians
only dreamed of undertaking as recently as a couple of years ago.
One such company that perfectly represents this excitement in
biotechnology is Gene Logic (GLGC, $142). Gene Logic lies at the
epicenter of the growing biotechnology boom. Indeed, much of the hoopla
generated thus far in the popular press has focused on the near-completion
of our human genome sequence, but the big question is what will we do with
all this information? We must make sense of it. Gene Logic will provide
that bridge between human sequence and the drugs of tomorrow.
As the sequencing of the human genome nears completion, the products Gene
Logic has to offer will become that more powerful. And what exactly are
these tools? They are invaluable mega-databases that contain, among other
things, data on gene expression, protein structure, and information about
subtle characteristic differences between you and me in our DNA that may
be important for making tailor-made drugs some day. Pharmaceutical
companies will need the tools and services that GLGC has to offer so they
can determine -- with a quicker turn-around time -- if the drugs in
development are going after the right targets. One can already imagine
how important their products will become for the smaller pharmaceuticals
with more limited resources, since many of these companies can ill-afford
to design drugs that fail.
For example, let`s say Pfizer is interested in developing a Drug X to
fight colon cancer. They want Drug X to block a particular pathway
component (e.g. an enzyme or other protein) believed to cause colon
cancer. Pfizer designs and synthesizes their candidate drug and tests it.
By using Gene Logic`s GeneExpress databases, the R&D team at Pfizer knows
which set of genes are hyperactive in colon cancer. However, although
Drug X succeeds in blocking their target protein of interest, they realize
that the same subset of genes believed to be responsible for colon cancer
are STILL hyperactive. That is, Drug X has failed to induce a more global
anti-cancer effect. (Fact: a number of genes -- some known, some unknown
-- often go haywire before one develops cancer. Gene Logic`s product can
help determine what those genes are). Therefore, Drug X fails. Pfizer
quickly goes on to candidate Y for testing. Time saved = money well not
spent. Cost efficiency helps increase profit margins.
Gene Logic is investing in a science that is known to work. The firm is
already producing proprietary products that are being used by major drug
companies and research institutions today. Analysts have projected the
company to become profitable by 2001. The company has also firmly
established itself as the industry leader. All one has to do is refer to
its client list, which includes Pfizer, Procter & Gamble, Schering-Plough,
SmithKline Beecham, Merck & Co. and PE Biosystems -- in short, a growing
list of the Who`s-Who in pharmaceuticals. By also working closely with
Affymetrix (AFFX), the makers of the high-powered DNA array chips that
they use, Gene Logic will remain the dominant player for many years to
come.

Servus zusammen,
wieder mal was allgemeines!
As the Nasdaq index plunged below 3800, he fired a possibly unanswerable query to investors
considering dumping their technology-based stocks: "Where are you going to go? Are you
going to buy Coca-Cola (NYSE:KO) with it?"
Exhibiting an attitude emblematic of high-flying technology traders, tourist Brenda Crowley, a
nurse from Sarasota, Fla., said today`s tech losses will soon be forgotten, with the help of a little
tinkering to her portfolio.
"I like to sell quick. I`m a day trader at heart," said Crowley, adding she will remain invested in
tech stocks because she has faith in technology companies` long-term profitability.
"They`ll be all right in the long run, I`m sure. They`re the wave of the future, man," she said as a
huge screen inside the Marketsite studio showed Intel`s stock down 21 percent on the day.
Crowley holds biotechnology stocks, including Incyte Genomics Inc. (NASDAQ NM:INCY) and
Gene Logic Inc. (NASDAQ NM:GLGC). As the Nasdaq dipped as low as 3614 in the morning,
she said she worried today`s sell-off could negatively affect the biotech sector.
"3700 is the testing point for the Nasdaq. They say if it goes below that, it could go to 3200,"
Crowley said. However, she seemed more concerned with peering through the glass at the TV
personalities who report from the Marketsite than in Friday`s plunge.
Joern Janoschek, a student and computer scientist in Germany, stared at the Marketsite`s
screens looking for his stocks. "Lucky I have no Intel," he said. "I think I will sit this one out," said
a queasy Janoschek.
He acknowledged that the weak European currency was hurting American companies that count
on exports for a large portion of their revenue stream, but he said European companies could
benefit by exporting more goods.
Even so, most concerned investors who crowded around the Marketsite said they see
themselves holding on to technology stocks, even when the roller coaster seems headed for the
ground.
"The only real money I ever made was not through textile designing. It was through investing,"
Ribando said.

Brussels, Belgium, announced today that UCB has subscribed to a segment of Gene Logic`s GeneExpress(TM) Suite of databases for use
in UCB`s drug discovery and development programs and they have expanded their current custom discovery partnership regarding
development of a custom gene expression database for new drug discovery focused on allergy. Financial terms of the multi-year
subscription and the expanded custom partnership were not disclosed.
Under the terms of the GeneExpress subscription, UCB will gain access to a subset of the GeneExpress Suite, specifically the Atlas
DataSuite. The GeneExpress Atlas DataSuite is an interactive information suite containing gene expression profiles of a broad survey of
normal human tissue, enabling researchers to quickly access normal gene expression levels across a broad selection of relevant human
organs and tissues. UCB Pharma becomes the first major pharmaceutical company to subscribe to the Atlas DataSuite, which Gene Logic
launched in August 2000. The agreement provides for broad deployment of the Atlas DataSuite and its related software tools across UCB
Pharma`s global pharmaceutical research and development infrastructure.
Also under terms of the agreement, Gene Logic will construct a separate, custom database incorporating UCB`s proprietary genomic data
which will allow UCB researchers to readily cross-reference this proprietary data with the nonproprietary data available in the GeneExpress
Atlas DataSuite.
Under the expanded custom partnership regarding allergic disease gene discovery, Gene Logic will use its patented READS(TM)
technology and Affymetrix Inc.`s (Nasdaq:AFFX) GeneChip(R) technology to identify genes that are differentially regulated in mast cells and
other cells central to allergic disease. Gene Logic will continue to apply this multiple platform approach for purposes of providing UCB novel
drug targets. In addition, the partnership affords Gene Logic the opportunity to gain rights to certain data generated from these studies for
eventual inclusion into the GeneExpress Suite.
"We look forward to another productive year of target discovery research with our collaborators at Gene Logic," said Dr. Tom Beck, UCB
Global Director of R&D. "The tools offered by Gene Logic together with our proprietary mast cell technology, have permitted a significant
leap in our understanding of this key allergic cell. The next stage of this research promises to take us to a higher level of defining disease
mechanisms in asthma and other allergic disorders in which the mast cell plays a central pathological role."
"We are thrilled that UCB Pharma, a current custom partner of ours, has not only expanded its existing agreement, but, more importantly,
has chosen to subscribe to one of our GeneExpress DataSuites," said David S. Murray, Senior Vice President, Marketing and Sales of
Gene Logic. "This multifaceted agreement incorporating both a partnership and subscription component is one of the cornerstones of our
vision of Gene Logic`s business model going forward. Clearly, we have established ourselves as an invaluable resource for the entire
research group at UCB."

Nichts besonderes, leider. Die vorbörslichen

wild kaufen. Egal was drinsteht.

Also

@Meier M
Schließlich ging man damals davon
Also
Jetzt
müssen sie halt was draus machen.

Hi!

Gene Logic Reports Third Quarter 2000 Results -- Revenues
Increased 25% over Prior Year`s Third Quarter --
GAITHERSBURG, Md.--(BW HealthWire)--Oct. 30, 2000--Gene Logic Inc. (Nasdaq: GLGC),
a leading provider of genomic information products, today announced its results for the third
quarter of 2000.
Revenues for the three months ended September 30, 2000 were $5.3 million, a 25% increase
over the $4.2 million reported for the comparable period of 1999. Revenues for the nine months
ended September 30, 2000 were $16.8 million, a 25% increase over the $13.5 million reported for
the comparable period of 1999. This increase resulted from increased revenues for subscriptions
to the Company`s GeneExpressTM Suite of databases.
For the three months ended September 30, 2000, the Company reported a net loss of $8.0 million,
or $0.31 per share, compared to a net loss of $5.4 million, or $0.27 per share, for the same period
in 1999. The net loss for the first nine months of 2000 was $18.0 million, or $0.72 per share,
compared to $14.7 million, or $0.74 per share, for the same period in 1999.
Operating expenses for the three months ended September 30, 2000 were $17.1 million,
compared to $9.7 million for the comparable period of 1999. Operating expenses for the nine
months ended September 30, 2000 were $44.9 million, compared to $28.7 million for the
comparable period of 1999. The increase in operating expenses was attributable to the continuing
expansion of database content and infrastructure, including increased sales and marketing
efforts, necessary to support existing and planned growth of the GeneExpressTM Suite of
products.
As of September 30, 2000, Gene Logic had approximately $231.4 million in cash and cash
equivalents.
"Through the first ten months of 2000, our closure rate of seven pharmaceutical and
biotechnology company subscriptions to the GeneExpressTM Suite continues to keep pace with
our goal of ten customers by the end of the year," commented Philip L. Rohrer, Jr., Chief
Financial Officer of Gene Logic. "During the third quarter, the continued investments in our sales
and marketing efforts began to pay off. For the remainder of 2000 and into 2001 we look to
continue to aggressively sign new users to the GeneExpressTM Suite as its extraordinary value
and utility as a genomics information tool becomes more widely known, expand the breadth and
depth of the content and functionality of the GeneExpressTM Suite, and sign additional strategic
partnership opportunities where prudent." Third Quarter / Early Fourth Quarter 2000 Highlights
Product Development Gene Logic completed the update of the content of the
GeneExpressTM Suite using the new Affymetrix, Inc. HU-95 Human Genome
GeneChip(R) set which includes 60,000 human genes and ESTs, replacing the HU-35
Human Genome GeneChip(R) set which included 42,000 human genes and ESTs.
Gene Logic completed the latest upgrade to the GeneExpressTM 2000
software interface, expanding from version 1.1 to version 1.2, and
began introducing the new interface to all current GeneExpressTM
Suite subscribers.
Business Partnerships Gene Logic announced a business development collaboration with
Amersham Pharmacia Biotech K.K. to market and sell Gene Logic`s entire line of
genomic information products to the Japanese pharmaceutical and biotechnology market.
Business Development Gene Logic signed a two-tiered agreement with UCB Pharma
encompassing the expansion of an existing custom discovery partnership for a custom
gene expression database in the area of allergy and asthma and a subscription to a
CustomSuite of the GeneExpressTM Suite including access to the Atlas DataSuite, a
subset focused on normal gene expression, and a separate yet integrated custom database
incorporating their proprietary data.
